How Long To Get An MBA?
When I am asked “How long to get an MBA” I have to resist the urge to answer “How long is a piece of string!” that is because I hate the true answer “It depends”.
It is possible to take an MBA in as little as one year, and as long as six years. Every school will have its own rules and requirements, but in general the following will apply.
One year MBA
This is a full time course. This usually requires management experience. Either substantial experience and a bachelors degree in any subject, or a bachelors degree in a business or management related subject and a few years management experience.
Two Year MBA
This is the normal length of a fulltime course. Entry is for any bachelor degree and the summer vacation is usually expected to be doing a management internship. If you are going to do an MBA straight after a bachelor degree this is the usual programme you will want to enrol on.
Three year plus MBA
These are normally part time programmes three years isn’t very common – but four year programmes are the most common. This is also the usual length of distance learning MBA degrees, and degrees that are sponsored by employers.
